Beginning Sounds Sorting Game

Description

Ideal Age: Preschool Kindergarten | 2.5 to 6 years

Instructions

– Print the individual game cards and game pieces on cardstock for durability;

– Cut out each card and game piece;

– If playing individually – instruct your learner to help match the game pieces to the letter game cards by beginning sound. Complete a set as an example.

– If playing with two or more learners:

– Set-up – Give each learner their own game card. Depending on the level of your learners, they may have one or more game cards. Place the game pieces face down in the center of the table.

– To play – Roll a pair of dice to see who begins the game (the learner with the higher number goes first). The first player takes a game piece, if they can correctly determine the beginning sound, and identify the letter to which the image belongs, they get to keep the game piece. If they cannot, the next player gets a chance to identify the word and keep the game piece. The first player to get 5 pieces (or a number of your choice) per card wins!
