Don’t you just love flash cards? Flash cards can be a valuable tool when teaching a particular concept, or beginning sounds, or letter recognition…!

These Alphabet Animal Cards are specials for 2 reasons! First, there is a set of cards that labels the animals by name, and there is a animal flashcard for each letter of the alphabet. Perfect for an animal theme!

Here’s how to engage with this activity:

This Alphabet Animal Flash Card set can be a great independent activity for learners who are working on beginning letters and sounds.

For beginners:

• Ask the learner to name the animal and say the first letter of its name. 
• Together, say the sound out loud then find the matching letter card. 
• Encourage her to think of other animals or words that begin with the same sound and letter. 

For instance the ‘Alligator’ would match with the ‘A’ card, or the ‘Bat’ would match with the ‘B’ card. Other animals for the ‘A’ card could be: ant, armadillo, or arctic fox!

As an extension have the learner draw additional animals to match the letter cards. Learners can check their own answers by using the master sheet where all the combinations are shown.

Or you can simple use both sets of cards to reinforce an animal theme or uppercase letters of the alphabet.
